Harvesting Lavender with Kathy Kimbrough

​This is a second year Lavandula angustifolia ‘Royal Velvet’ plant located at the CSU Extension in Grand Junction, Colorado. It’s time to harvest the flowers as they have just begun to open.

​Gather all of the stems on the plant in one hand if possible. If the plant is more mature, it may be necessary to make two bundles. Using a sickle or pruning shears, cut stems at the base of foliage.
