Growing Lavender with Susan Harrington

In a 40-foot labyrinth, Susan Harrington grows 150 lavender plants. Harvesting 5-6 bundles per plant or approximately 700 bundles each flowering season offers some pretty fragrant returns. Susan and her husband Jack own Labyrinth Hill Lavender in Washington state.

Attendees at the 2012 Southwestern Lavender Conference in Grand Junction enjoyed her half-day workshop titled – Lavender: From Soil to Sachet. Susan is also the author of Ten Wonderful Things You Can Do With Lavender (without sewing, gluing, nailing, or painting).

Debra is the author of seven books about gardens and home design. She is also a gardening topics speaker, has written articles for numerous magazines, and appeared on HGTV’s “Outer Spaces”.

Susan says there is high demand for fresh lavender. She is a strong advocate for buying local. She says, “I’d like to help the customer find their own local lavender grower”.
