This is a second year Lavandula angustifolia ‘Royal Velvet’ plant located at the CSU Extension in Grand Junction, Colorado. It’s time to harvest the flowers as they have just begun to open.

Gather all of the stems on the plant in one hand if possible. If the plant is more mature, it may be necessary to make two bundles. Using a sickle or pruning shears, cut stems at the base of foliage.
